This choice affects whether your data will be stored in the same data center as your public SIM-Cloud or in a remote one.
BaaS Local is the option for you if quick recovery time is your priority. The average RTO for this option is about 300-600 Gb/h. However, the disaster that affected your infrastructure in the first place could affect the backups as well. BaaS Remote is the exact opposite: your backups are stored in another data center, which improves security, but, naturally, leads to slower recovery rates of about 150 Gb/h.

Just like any XaaS solution, backup-as-a-service is a model that allows you to pay for services, as opposed to paying for the hardware itself. These services include all the tools required for the backups to function as intended.
Our backup-as-a-service solution only works with our SIM-Cloud IaaS, which means you’d have to purchase a plan before using it. Once you set up your cloud infrastructure and order our BaaS, you will be given access to the SIM-Cloud dashboard where you will be able to manage both the backups and the cloud itself.
RPO stands for «Recovery Point Objective». This value denotes the maximal permissible age of a functional backup; in other words, RPO shows you how up-to-date your backup is and whether you’d lose critical data if you were to use it. For example, if your last update is from 16 hours ago while your RPO value is at 18, you will not experience significant losses. It is, however, important to keep in mind that this value should be kept as low as possible: while the losses may not be critical to the functioning of your business, it is preferable that less data is lost overall.
RTO means «Recovery Time Objective»; this value sets the timeframe for you to recover your data without critical losses. While RPO tells you how old a backup can be for the data losses to be acceptable, RTO shows you how long it will take before the losses severely impact your business.
As often as is optimal for your business. You will be able to schedule backups in the SIM-Cloud Dashboard and choose the regularity yourself.
The volume of storage space should be slightly larger than that of your data in order to accommodate all the files necessary for the recovery to function. Ideally, you should order 50% more storage space than the volume of data you currently have.
How long will it take to back up my data? We use incremental backups, which only upload data that’s been changed since the last backup. This means that you won’t have to upload large volumes of data each time; naturally, this will save you a lot of time and the backups won’t take long.
